Andy developed his passion for photography at high school, when he and a friend discovered an unused dark room hidden away behind the cleaners closet. After some pleading to the art department, the room was resurrected and was soon back to a fully functioning dark room. The dim red light and the smell of chemicals became an intoxicating mix for the budding young enthusiast, and thus began his love of all things photographic. After school Andy went on and completed the photography diploma course at Ultimo Tech, and attended many a work shop at the Australian Center of Photography in Paddington.

Around this time Andy was busy taking photos and playing guitar in bands, and for some time this was a nice mix of creative income. Eventually though, Andy became so busy playing gigs and teaching guitar that he had little time for photography, and so it was for a number of years until his son was born before he took it up again. Realizing he hadn’t lost his love of photography, Andy rekindled his passion for all things photographic, including a new zest to learn the photographic process in the new digital era.

And has been a professional photographer for over ten years, and has lost none of his passion and enthusiasm for creating beautiful imagery.

As was hinted above, Andy’s talents are not just confined to photography, he is also a talented musician and guitar teacher. Andy has been teaching and playing in various bands and duos for well over twenty years in and around Sydney. He is currently performing with Nicolette Kenny in their ever popular duo Hooray For Everything.
